A: Turning off the mains water will stop the boiler (hot water) and shut of the cold to the shower. Putting on the shower and getting no water will confirm this.

A: 

Before fitting the new cartridge you should replace the small ‘O’ ring at the rear of the body this is another bu**er to change……(something like a crochet hook or the sort of thing that dentists use will help)

 

 It is not always necessary to replace this ring however if there any problems with the cartridge, the first question you will be asked is did you replace the ‘O’ ring? if the answer is no! then you will be told to phone back once it has been replaced.

 

When you refit the cartridge make sure that the slot, (usually on the right of the body ) the gasket and the body all line up properly then re tighten the screws.

 

On the older versions you have to reuse the original brass screws if you have this type be careful not to over tighten the screws because the brass inserts in the body may split, on a few occasions you may find they have split when you remove the old cartridge  if this happens then you will probably have to replace the body.

 

A: 

The temperature problem may be caused by the boiler flowrate.

See below for how to check.

Regarding the temperaturefluctuation or cool running it could be a faulty cartridge however to checkthis, see if you can get hold of the hot supply pipe before it enters theshower or perhaps as it leaves the boiler.

 

If when holding this pipe thetemperature fluctuates or goes cool then the problem is not with the shower butmore likely with the boiler as the shower can only deliver what the boilersends to it.      #

 

Disregard the temperature at thetaps as they have a different flow rate.

 

If the pressures are reasonably balancedthen the existing cartridge can work OK and you only need to change it for apink cartridge if/when you start having problems.

 

However the boiler installer mayinsist that you need the combi cartridge before he is prepared to check forfaults elsewhere.

 

 

 

A: 

As long as the hot and cold pressures are roughly similar the grey cartridge will do, however if the cartridge is old then the extra pressure may cause it to drip and it will have to be replaced

 

 

 

A: 

Regarding the cool running it could be a faulty cartridge however to check this, see if you can get hold of the hot supply pipe before it enters the shower or perhaps as it leaves the boiler.

 

If when holding this pipe the temperature goes cool then the problem is not with the shower but more likely with the boiler as the shower can only deliver what the boiler sends to it.    #

 

Disregard the temperature at the taps as they have a different flow rate.

 

If that is not where the fault is then remove the flow regulator and try the shower without it, if that doesn’t resolve the problem then assuming you bought the cartridge from us, we will replace it.

A: Your shower is the Aqualisa 609 thermostatic shower valve, If the shower is dripping form the shower head when switched off , leaking from the frotnt of the cartridge , not hot or no cold coming from the shower or cycling hot and cold then a new combi cartridge is need - part number 022802 from the spares diagram in this link provided - http://www.showerdoc.com/shower-spares/aqualisa/AQUAL-PARENT-3-Aqualisa-Aquavalve-609-Thermostatic---409-Manual

If the shower is on a gravity fed system then you need to replace with cartridge 022801 the LP cartridge.

A: 

If you have a pink cartridge at the moment then the newer pink cartridge will fit.

 

I am not sure what you mean when you say you have a white cartridge......the white cartridges were manufactured 93>96 and don’t have a “spring”

A: If the shower is dripping from the shower head when switched off , having temperature problems EG: not hot or no cold then you will require a new cartridge assembly.

Before ordering parts please make sure you dont have problems with the water supplying the shower first or your boiler is at fault.

If you have recently changed your system from a gravity fed system to a combi boiler and the unit has started to have faults like the above then you will need to fit the pink multipoint cartridge.

If you have a Gravity Fed syatem or you are on a shower pump then you will require a Grey LP cartridge P/N 022801

If your shower is on a Combi boiler then you will require the Pink Multipoint cartridge P/N 022802
