A: If you have power from the transformer then the most likely fault is the switch which is part of the loom assembly has become faulty. The usual fault is the thermostatic cartridge starts to leak which is just above the switches and the water drops down and shorts out the switches. Answered 6 days ago | The Doc

Q: Moved into the house 3 years ago...the shower was always noisy and leaked at the bottom but recently stopped working. I think it is the 1997-2003 model. Can you advise how i remove the cover and possible causes for no water pressure

Make sure that you have power to the shower, then.
If the above is your shower, then remove #13 by just pulling forward, it may be tight, there are three screws on part #14 which you remove. #9 has a screw at the top and one at the bottom, the cover will then come off. Check to see if there is water damage to the part between #6 and #15, which is actually #3. You can replace #13 and see if the pump runs. Pressing the base of #3 upward may make the pump run. If so you may have a leak from the cartridge #6 which has damaged #3. Both should be replaced. Answered 9 days ago | Barrie A: You probably have had a leaking cartridge (Part 6) this willhave leaked down on to the wiring loom (Part 2) and shorted out the loom theseparts will have to be replaced. To remove the case you need to pull the centre knob forward thenremove the screws from the inner knob, you will then find the two main casesecuring screws at the top and bottom of the case. Q: After turning off the shower there is water leaking from the bottom of the unit but only when I replace the shower head in the holder. I opened the unit and the water seems to come from where the thermostat goes into the valve body. It was suggested to me to try and replace the valve body first rather than spending money on a new thermostat. Do you think its possibly the valve body thats the problem?

A: The valve body could have a crack in it and would be the cheapest option to try first but usually its the cartridge. Answered 14 days ago | Barrie

A: Check that the hose and head are clear ( the hose can collapse internally) Remove the on/off knob should just pull forward however it can be a bit of a bu**er then remove the 4 screws that hold the temperature knob in place, remove the temperature knob and then you will see the colour of your cartridge. If these are OK then you probably need a new cartridge.

http://www.showerdoc.com/AQUAL-022808-Aqualisa-Cartridge-Manual---Comes-With-Gasket-022808
If you already have the cartridge and want to carry on and replace it you will have to turn the water off to the shower. Then remove the cartridge you will need to remove the 4 large screws at the side of the cartridge these have posidrive or ‘Torx’ T25 heads depending on there age. Pull the cartridge forward to remove. Before fitting the new cartridge you should replace the small ‘O’ ring at the rear of the body this is another bu**er to change……(something like a crochet hook or the sort of thing that dentists use will help) It is not always necessary to replace this ring however if there any problems with the cartridge, the first question you will be asked is did you replace the ‘O’ ring? if the answer is no! then you will be told to phone back once it has been replaced. When you refit the cartridge make sure that the slot, (usually on the right of the body ) the gasket and the body all line up properly then re-tighten the screws. On the older versions you have to reuse the original brass screws if you have this type be careful not to over tighten the screws because the brass inserts in the body may split, on a few occasions you may find they have split when you remove the old cartridge if this happens then you will probably have to replace the body. Refit the temperature control knob (new screws supplied) the fit the on / off knob, turn the water back on and check for leaks, if everything is OK remove clothes and have a shower!!! A: No pit falls really, turn off the water and power to the unit, remove the front cover , remove the halter that holds the micro switches (Itjust clips on to the front of the cartridge )Observe the position of the camthat fits on to the end of the cartridge, so that it can be fitted to the newcartridge in the same position. Unscrew the cartridge retaining screws pull cartridge outyou should at this point replace the rear ‘O’ ring however this is not always necessary Fit thenew cartridge and to reassemble reverse the above. A: It is just a case of removing the cover and the screw that holds the adaptor inplace also slackening the pump mounting screws off so you can get enough movementto slip the adaptor into place.
I t becomes more obvious when you see the adaptor. Answered 125 days ago | The Doc

Q: The shower was working fine but has just stopped working, although water is still trickling through but with no force to it. I've taken the cover off and tried testing the circuit to see if power was still present but couldn't get the circuit tester to 'light up' (is there a cut off built in?).
I'm not sure what part I'm likely to need, is there anything you would suggest?
Many thanks

A: It depends where it is dripping from. If it is dripping from the showerhead then you need a newcartridge. If you think it is dripping from the valve body have a very carefulcheck, because more than likely it is dripping from the cartridge and runningback on to the body, if the cartridge is leaking then you need to replace thecartridge. Q: Is is possible to purchase a complete replacement Aquastream (post 1997) shower unit as opposed to the individual spare parts?

A: Good morning,
Thank you for your email.
Unfortunately, the post-1997 edition of the Aqualisa Aquastream was superseded by the new edition in 2003. As such, only parts are now available for this particular unit.
The post-2003 edition of this shower is probably the best replacement for your particular shower. The pipe centres are the same, although the unit sits a little lower on the wall. As such, you may have to trim the copper tails that enter the unit and in some cases you may have to drill a hole in the rear case for the wire entry position.
I hope that this helps you out.

Q: I have an Aquastream thermostatic and manual integral power shower 1997-2003 but the wired power supply where I wish to install the shower is only two core. Can I use this two core supply with the shower or do I need the three core as supplied with the transformer?

A: Check that the hose and head are clear ( the hose can collapse internally) If these are OK then you probably need a new cartridge. You will have to find out which cartridge you have. Pink for a combi or multipoint and grey any system with balanced (equal) pressures. Remove the on/off knob should just pull forward however it can be a bit of a bu**er then remove the 4 screws that hold the temperature knob in place, remove the temperature knob and then you will see the colour of your cartridge. If you already have the cartridge and want to carry on and replace it you will have to turn the water off to the shower. Q: Was always a bit noisy when starting on power mode.Cartridge was replaced a few years ago 4?and solved the problem but through time has become gradually noisy again on startup and settles after maybe 5 or 10 seconds. It has got worse in the last few weeks and perhaps the cartridge is failing. Is this a short life and is it possible that the house plumbing layout is aggravating the situation.I have a vent fitted on cylinder. If the cartridge needs replacing would it be advisable to buy a new shower instead of a cartridge.

A: The noise is more likely to be coming from the motor, this is a fairly common fault, however the motor can go on making a horrendous noise for years. It is just a case of seeing who will give up first, the motor, or you because of the noise! Answered 372 days ago | The Doc

A: Make sure that the shower head is clean and clear, also that the hose isn’t kinked (this can happen just behind the hand set where it is difficult to see) also check the inside of the hose although it can look OK on the outside it could have collapsed internally. The other possibility is an air lock Remove the shower head and lay the hose in the bottom of the shower tray or bath then turn the shower on to fully cold and allow to run for about 3mins then turn the shower to fully hot and allow to run for 3mins this may draw any air in the system through Answered 386 days ago | The Doc

Q: Part seven of the diagram above the aqualisa cartridge manual is leaking from the the blue part with the three holes either side and allso from one of the nuts small leak and only when shower use has just stoped and unit retains pressure my guess was lose of seal in the part but it appears to be sealed is this right

A: Yes the cartridge is a sealed unit, therefore it has to be replaced if it starts to leak. I am not sure which leaking, however if it is just a problem with a nut perhaps giving it a tighten will nut you mean because as I recollect all the fittings inside the unit are push fit Answered 395 days ago | The Doc

Q: On removal of the shroud condensation appears everywhere, but constant drip from bottom of valve body. Turn off hot water supply and three days later all is dry and no drips. DoI have a perished "O" ring somewhere in the hot water supply line, and if so do you supply an "O" ring kit for complete refurbishment of these perishing items!?
Thank you in anticipation, John Penfold

A: It may be a possibility that the on/off knob is slightly out of position. Remove the knob and the cam and make sure the spindle is turned fully clockwise If this stops the drip then replace cam and knob in off position. If this does not fix the problem then it sounds like a faulty cartridge which can be replaced under g`tee. Answered 556 days ago | Alastair
