Shower works for a second then stops

Hi Shower starts to works for a second then stops. The electric is not tripping out. There are no lights on the shower unit either. In the past the shower would not turn off and we had to turn off at the main switch outside the bathroom. Also the heat settings have had to be turned down gradually, use to be on No.5 for an acceptable heat but now it is on No.3. Also there used to be a slight noise when the shower was turned off , only for a couple of seconds. Please could you advise on the possible problem and which component I would need to fix? Thanks

The reason for it stopping may be your solenoid valve, you can check it if you have a multi meter, you should have a reading of at least k3.5 ohms, across the two terminals any less and you need a new valve. (Check the valve in the failed state.) (When it has stopped working!)

If there is power getting to the solenoid and it is not operating then there is a good chance that you have a faulty solenoid.

Not sure but the noise may be a micro switch stuck in the on position and keeping one of the elements energised.

However you need to get the solenoid sorted first.
