Removethe temperature control knob then turn the purple butterfly to max hot.

 

Slackenthe screw in the centre of the butterfly (do not completely remove the screw) slackenit just enough to allow the butterfly to be pulled forward and clear of thesplines that it sits on, now turn the butterfly clockwise until it is at the6'O clock position retighten the screw fit the temperature knob and test theshower.

 

Youcan try this operation again and perhaps even a third time however by then itis usually beyond its maximum hot adjustment.

 

 

 

A: 

Regarding the temperature fluctuation or cool running it could be afaulty cartridge however to check this, if you have a combi boiler, see if you can get hold of the hotsupply pipe before it enters the shower or perhaps as it leaves theboiler.

Ifwhen holding this pipe the temperature fluctuates or goes cool then the problemis not with the shower but more likely with the boiler as the shower can onlydeliver what the boiler sends to it.

Disregard the temperature at the taps as they have a different flowrate.

A: That was the old part number as they did have two cartridges, one for low pressure and one for high pressure systems. 

The 903.33 does both high and low pressure as it has a setting you change on the back. 

A: These cartridges work best with equal pressures of about 3-4 bar, so you will need to check this. Also check that the head and hose are clear.

A: Depending on the shower that you have , it may be the motor/pump that is faulty or a lack of water reaching the shower.

May have something to do with the flow rate through the boiler.

 

However I would have the cartridge out and check that the inlet filters are clean (This could cause a problem with the flow rate if they are dirty) if the filters are OK and you are fairly certain that the boiler is OK then the next step is to change the cartridge.

Sounds like you just need a cartridge, the cartridges can beset for high or low pressure before fitting.

Yes the valve could be stiff due to the age and extrapressure.

However if you remove the cartridge you will find that theretwo holes that the red key will fit into (see the link below) if you don’t have the red key a pair of long nosedpliers will do.

On the back of the cartridge stamped in to the rear arearrows pointing to high and low push the key or pliers into the holes and turnto the high setting.

When it is out make sure that the cartridge filters areclear.

This should solve the problem however if not then it is justthe age of the cartridge and the extra pressure that is causing the problemtherefore it will have to be replaced.

If you do these checks and you still have a problem then wecan replace the cartridge .......Having said that this is a very unusual fault.

There should be a red key that fits in to two holes at the back of the cartridge high and low stamped into the back of the cartridge using the key you turn the back of the cartridge to high or low.

The temp control simply pulls off and the remaining shrouds and knobs are clipped on and to remove release the clips.
Once all these are off take out the 4 screws that secure the cartridge then it will just pull out. Remember to lubricate the seals before reassembling.

The Cartridges were high and low pressure, the current 903 33 by using the key changes it from High to Low, with a combi all you will need to do, assuming the pressure is high enough is switch it to high pressure.

A: If your mains water supply has had an increase in pressure then the engineer is probably correct as the Excel works best with nominally equal pressures.

A: This is unlikely to be caused by the temperature range adjustment being wrong but is more likely to be a supply problem.
If your shower is fed from a combi boiler or an unvented hot water cylinder then it is possible that the cold water supply pressure is too high for the hot and a pressure reducing valve in the cold supply to the shower is required.
It is actually more likely that the shower is reverse plumbed and hot and cold supplies are swapped. Industry standard is hot to left and cold to right.
If your unit is reverse plumbed it is easily corrected, just remove cartridge turn through 180degrees and refit. Fit the knobs right way up and thats it.
Temp range adjustment is simply done by removing temp knob and turning hub until required mid range temp is achieved removing hub without turning spindle and refit in vertical position, may take several attempts to achieve desiresd temperature.
