Mira zest 1 Answer

Q: Hi,I have a mira zest which goes for a few seconds untill hot then stops then comes back on but very hot for a start it does this 3 or 4 times during having a shower?

Submitted 228 days ago | by Jonnie, Keith
! Answer this question

A: The things to check firstare:

1 That the main valve cominginto your house is fully open.

2 Then check that the valve on the line to the shower isfully open.

If these valvesare not fully open then there may not be enough water getting to your shower to cool it properly the overheatsafety device will turn the power offuntil it cools Then it all starts again

Make sure that the shower head isclean and clear, that the hose isn’t kinked (this can happen just behind thehand set where it is difficult to see) also check the inside of the hosealthough it can look OK on the outside it could have collapsed internally

The other possibility is a faultyflow/stabilizer valve not allowing the correct amount of water into the shower.

A rough check is to remove theshower head turn temperature control to fully hot the water coming out of thehose should be a bit more than a dribble then turn to fully cold and it shouldbe coming out at full flow.

Ifthere is not much difference between the two then you could have a faulty flowvalve.

A: It maybe your solenoid valve, you can check it if you have a multi meter, you shouldhave a reading of at least k3.5 ohms, across the two terminals any less and youneed a new valve. (Check the valve in the failed state.) (When it has stoppedworking!)

If thereis power getting to the solenoid and it is not operating then there is a goodchance that you have a faulty solenoid.

Mira Shower part replacement 1 Answer

Q: I have model Mira Zest 7.5/8.5 which is leaking very slowly from the bottom of the unit. Do I need the Mira Spare Zest Base Unit - 439.72 which I think costs over £100 +?

Submitted 353 days ago | by Jeannie, East Yorkshire
! Answer this question

A: Ithink the Pressure Relief Device (PRD) has blown.

It’sa safety device on the bottom of the heating tank.

Itis fairly easy to replace however there is usually something that causes it toblow, oftena kink in the hose or the showerhead is blocked, so check this before fittingthe new PRD.

Replacing the above etc should help.

Q: when the shower is set to cold it is still coming out near boiling

Submitted 410 days ago | by Anonymous, perth
! Answer this question

A: Forgetting about the temperature turn the showerfrom fully hot to fully cold at fully hot you should have not much more than adribble coming from the hose and on fully cold you should have a good strongflow, if you do not have this difference then you may have a faultyflow/stabilizer valve.

! Answer this question

A: It maybe a faulty element in the heating tank (there are two, three in most 10kwshowers) you can check them with a multi meter you should have a reading ofaround 12>18 ohms.

If you have power to the elementsand no heat it's probably the elements, no power to the elements thenit's probably a micro switch.

Zest Cuts out 1 Answer

Q: Hi, I suspect I know the answer, but looking for a confirmation.

Mira Zest 8.5 post-03, works then switches off intermittently, traced the voltages through the unit and everything appears to be correct, except the 2 main power switches are not being made when the knob is turned to the on position. the 3rd switch giving power to the flow regulator is OK.

is this likely to be the main switch or the flow regulator?

Many thanks.

You first need to make sure that there is power getting to the shower, then check that all valves are open and filters unclogged.

forgetting about the temperature turn the shower from fully hot to fully cold at fully hot you should have not much more than a dribble coming from the hose and on fully cold you should have a good strong flow, if you do not have this difference then you may have a faulty flow/stabilizer valve.

A: Sorry for the delay in replying.

I think you may have a faulty Thermal Cut Out

A faulty TCO will have no continuity across the two terminals (The black thing on top of the heating tank)

Therefore a good TCO will have power at both connections and a faulty TCO will have power at only one.

(The function of the TCO is, if the water over heats it cuts the power off to the elements until the water cools, this can take up to 15mins)

See Video.

http://www.youtube.com/user/showerdoc#p/u/2/_zi8JbEMYMs

If the TCO is OK then you probably need a new flow regulator assemblyAnswered 863 days ago | The doc

Mira Zest 8.5 pull cord light going out 1 Answer

Q: Similar to last question and probably same answer. My zest 8.5 is just 18mth old and has stopped dead. There is power to the terminal block and heater as indicated by my finger on the top, light up screwdriver!!

Just one disturbing thing, the pull cord indicator light goes out when the shower knob turned to on and comes back on when turned back. Screwdriver says power still at power terminal block when light is out. Have checked wiring in pull cord switch and all seems ok. Is this relevant?

Mira Zest Tempature problem 1 Answer

Q: My shower is either cold or boiling hot with nothing in between, can you please advise what part is required to rectify this problem

Submitted 1018 days ago | by Rick, Wiltshire
! Answer this question

A: The things to check first are.

1 That the main valve coming into your house is fully open.

2 Then check that the valve on the line to the shower is fully open.

If these valves are not fully open then there may not be enough water
getting to your shower to cool it properly the overheat safety device will turn
the power off until it cools Then it all starts again

Make sure that the shower head is clean and clear, that the hose isn’t kinked (this can happen just behind the hand set where it is difficult to see) also check the inside of the hose although it can look OK on the outside it could have collapsed internally

If all the above are OK then you are going to need a new flow valve

Water leak Zest 8.5 kw 1 Answer

Q: The shower was turned off when operating on cold and it started leaking. I can see cracking on a clamp between where the filter (3) is and the flow regulator assembly (4), Is it likely to be only the clamp which has failed?

Cheers

Paul

Submitted 1090 days ago | by Big Pauly, Durham
! Answer this question

A: The only way to be sure is to undo the clamp and see, if the back box is cracked then you will have to buy a new shower because Mira will not sell back boxes.

The most common reason for the clamp cracking is that the pipe is not entering the shower perfectly squarely

Mira zest water leak 1 Answer

Q: Water is leaking from where the filter (Part3) connects to the flow assembly (part4) how do these parts connect, and are they fairly straight forward to replace?

many thanks.

Submitted 1096 days ago | by jwc_007, Devon
! Answer this question

A: Yes this should be fairly straight forward.

However......,... The reason that this part often leaks is when the shower was installed the fitter did not hold against himself when tightening the nuts, or the more usual fault is the pipe work is not entering the shower perfectly straight If this is the case you will have to try to adjust it or the same fault may occur again.
