Removal of the old/faulty cartridge required a sharp pull with pliers on the knurled brass end, but was OK. The installtion of the new required a sharp 'tap' with a rubber mallet to seat if due to its reluctance to go the last millimetre due (I suppose) to the new 'O'rings. It now functions and the shower head is leak free. The helpfull comments, questions and answers on the website helped me get to this satisfactory conclusion.Thank you ShowerDoc.
