Q: I have a Mira Event thermostatic power shower that has started to make a high pitched "whining" noise and also appears to have lost a bit of pressure. Can anyone help please?

A: First thing to do is check the filters, part 4 in the diagram below,

Q: My shower is approx 6 years old. The shower starts as normal. After few seconds, water stops completely. The motor is still running. Switching the shower off and on again makes no difference. I have to leave the shower off for an hour to make it work again for few seconds. I have cleared the filters and checked the hot and cold water supply. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A: It may be your solenoid valve, you can check it if you havea multi meter, you should have a reading of at least k3.5 ohms, across the twoterminals any less and you need a new valve. (Check the valve in the failedstate.) (When it has stopped working!) If there is power getting to the solenoid and it is notoperating then there is a good chance that you have a faulty solenoid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzJjzWqxesc The videois intended as a guide and does not cover every shower. If you don’t have a multimeter we sell them with a guide on how to use them for checkingand testing the various parts of your shower. Apart from helping to fix your shower, they are reallyuseful for checking you have a power supply to appliances, for checking fusesand letting you know much power you have left in batteries (So you will know if they are good or not) and lots of otherjobs, in short they are well worth a few pounds http://www.showerdoc.com/installation/electrical-products/SKYTRO-600-005-Digital-Multi-Tester Answered 45 days ago | The Doc

A: There no fitting instructions come with this, however veryroughly. Switch of the water and power lay the shower head in thetray or bath turn on the water to let it drain remove the securing strap roundthe motor and pump unit loosen the screws that hold the mixing valve and inletassembly Take note where all the wires come from and go to tilt the motorforward and lift up at the same time. To fit the new motor reverse the above. When fitting the motor make sure that the two old ‘O’ ringsthat fit between the motor and the valve have been removed, the only realdifficulty in replacing this motor is making sure that the new ‘O’ rings sit inthe correct position and don’t move or ride up when you are replacing the newmotor. We have found that fitting the ‘o’ rings on the spigots, oneon the pump and one on the valve are easier than mounting the ‘O’ rings in thesockets Take plenty of photos as you go so you can refer to themwhen it comes to reassembly. Q: Recently you gave the following answer in relation to a Mira Event T which has suddenly stopped working - it is possible that you could have a potentiometer or PCB fault. Turn the pot up to full power and check that you are getting the 240v to the motor. You could also make sure that the power is off and try turning the com with the end of a screwdriver, if the motor was only sticking this may release it.
What is the 'pot' and 'com'? I have a similar problem. Mine is 14 years old and suddenly stopped working and I am trying to work out if the brushes are gone. The motor run after I tapped it with a screwdriver for a few days but it has stopped again. Do brushes fail suddenly or should I have been hearing strange noises firstly?
Thank you

A: If it stopped suddenly with no warning then it is more likely to be a faulty solenoid valve I think you need to check the solenoid first. (see below) It may be your solenoid valve, you can check it if you have a multi meter, you should have a reading of at least k3.5 ohms, across the two terminals any less and you need a new valve. (Check the valve in the failed state.) (When it has stopped working!) Q: The pump speed fluctuates randomly. Sometimes it works as it should at the desired flow, other times it only works on maximum power, sometimes it will start ok and the pump will then slow over a few seconds to nothing. Thoughts are it might be the control unit? Any ideas?

A: Sorry for the delay in replying. I think I would start by checking that the filters are clear, it could be a few other faults but try the filters first, if that doesn’t work get back to us. Answered 171 days ago | The dOC

Q: I have a Mira Event T power shower which is approx 10 years old. The pump has failed previously and this was corrected by installing new brushes, supplied by you. We were away for the weekend so the shower was not used for a few days, it is normally used 3 or 4 times daily. Upon our return the pump is now not operating at all, no noise from the shower when switching on. There is a flow of both hot and cold water through the shower but obviously not at pumped pressure. There are the normal signs of carbon dust within the shower unit. I am surprised by the sudden failure, ie no prior warning of a struggling pump! I suspect that the pump needs replacing but perhaps you could confirm this or advise of any other possible causes of this failure, before I go to the expense of pump replacement.
Thanks, Iain MacD.

Q: In the middle of the night the pump started to run (!) and then the whole circuit tripped. Cicuit could not be turned back on until I disconnected the power to the shower.
Not sure if it is the thermostatic model or not.
Any ideas? Many thanks

A: The thermostatic units have thermostatic on the front cover. I think that the motor and pump unit has failed so this will have to be replaced Answered 256 days ago | The Doc

Q: Nearly every time we have a shower now the speed of the pump increases dramatically and the flow of water stops. I've checked the flow of water into the unit and there is no problem. It seems like something in the shower is restricting/stopping the water from reaching the pump. Any ideas?

Q: My shower suddenly caused the power to trip. It may have been a water leak which I think I have fixed but the power still trips. I suspect either the motor or the circuit board is faulty, can you suggest the best way to check? Is the circuit board available as a spare? The bushes in the motor look to be ok and it is not badly worn. I think there is a "short" somewhere but can't find it.
Many Thanks

A: You could measure the resistance across the motor no resistance probably a faulty motor Or you could just disconnect the motor tape up the ends and switch on if it doesn’t trip then it is likely to be the motor. Answered 431 days ago | The Doc

Q: Hi there
Was wondering if you would be able to help me. I have the shower mentioned above, have done for about 10 years, all of a sudden it's stopped working. The hot water still comes through - I can still have a shower - but feel like I'm abroad somewhere - there's only just enough to have a small shower???? It was working fine on Saturday - then tried it on Sunday and it seems there's no power?
Would the motor have gone?
If you could help that would be most appreciated.
Kind Regards
Tracy Nicholson
