A: Hi If you have problems with an Excel then it's best just to replace the cartridge, however it is probably worth stripping the cartridge out and checkingthat the inlet filters are clean, before buying a new cartridge. Turn off hot and cold water supply
Pull front temperature knob off The rest of the knob assy. just unclips Remove 4 screws that hold cartridge into body
Pull old cartridge forward shouldn't be too tight
Set new cartridge for High/Low pressure (instructions with cartridge)
Slip new cartridge into place remember to check that the new seals are all in place (and don't drop out as you push back)
Tighten screws be careful not to over tighten
Refit knobs.
Turn on water and test. (Occasionally you will have to reset the cartridge temperature, instructions with cartridge)
Easy peasy!!!! Cartridge Mira 903.33 This cartridge supersedes the previous high and low pressure versions

A: Are you on a combi boiler? See if you can get hold of the hotsupply pipe before it enters the shower or perhaps as it leaves the boiler. If when holding this pipe thetemperature fluctuates or goes cool then the problem is not with the shower butmore likely with the boiler as the shower can only deliver what the boilersends to it. Disregard the temperature at thetaps as they have a different flow rate. The other thing to check is haveyou installed the cartridge the correct way round? Normally as you are standing inthe shower looking at the valve hot to the left cold to the right Answered 99 days ago | The Doc

Q: Hi. Mira excel Shower runs hot only. When turn to cool flow drops to zero. My tenant not happy! It is a surface mount so easy to check that hot and flow is good (they are). Before I fork out on a new shower cartridge any tips for further tests? Could it be the cold filter? Also once the 3 retaining screws are remove does the cartridge slide out or is there more dismantling to do? Thanks.

Q: I have a Mira Excel, which was fitted around 1991, which is fitted with a power shower pump. The temprature has suddenly gone haywire, in that it goes red hot and then cold, but it works ok with out the power shower although the temprature number has to be almost at its highest. I have cleaned out the filters as you have said to somebody else and the power pump is working ok. I am thinking that the cartridge needs replacing I see that there ar two Post 1990 models. On pieces of paper in the assembly there are numbers F230 764 and 06 1804, but cannot find these on your parts list, help please!!

Q: I have the above shower which was installed in 2001. We live in a hard water area, so the filters constantly get clogged up and the shower goes cold. I have taken the front off but I can only 1 scre in a purple coloured part, not the four screws that you mention holds the cartridge in place. I have attached a picture of my shower, how do i get to the screws holding teh cartridge in place/

A: Remove the temperature control knob and turn the purple hub clockwise to the max temp you require, then without turning the spindle remove the hub turn it anticlockwise to the max stop and refit. This can be repeated as necessary then refit knob. Answered 476 days ago | Alastair

Q: We bought our house brand new in 2000 with a Mira Excel shower already in. (dont know model number) Over the years we have had to keep turning up the temprature control higher and higher and now its on maximum and still not hot. Talking to a local plumber - he said it would be our thermostatic cartridge wanting changed and it would be easy to do? can I have your expert advice please?
Can you email me a copy of fitting instructions please if required / available?
Thanks,
Paul.
