A: Thereis nothing that should cause this, however the cartridge has to be set for Highand Low pressure at the rear before fitting did you check this? Theother thing that it may be worth checking is the filters, sometimes turning thewater on and off can disturb any debris in the pipe work and this can getflushed through on to the filters Answered 107 days ago | The Doc

Q: My plumber tried to replace this cartridge with a new one. The new one keeps leaking, not through the shower head, but from behind/under the cartridge. Not sure where. 1 drip every few seconds. He took it in & out so many times, trying so many options I'm not sure what he was missing.

A: Generally there no problems fitting this cartridge. There is one thing that could be causing a problem however At the top and bottom of the cartridge there are twoletterbox shaped ‘O’ rings that fit into a recess in the cartridge body, the ‘O’rings are black as is the cartridge body. First check that the seals are in there, then check thatthere are not two seals in there! What can happen is when you change thecartridge over the original seal sticks to the shower body and you then offerup the new cartridge which has the seals in place, so you therefore end up withthe two seals together which will not allow the cartridge to sit properly. A: Hi It is the cartridge that has become faulty and will need replaced. To replace the cartridge Pre 2003 units Turn off hot and cold water supply Pull front temperature knob off The rest of the knob assy. just unclips Remove 4 screws that hold cartridge into body Pull old cartridge forward shouldn't be too tight Set new cartridge for High/Low pressure (instructions with cartridge) Slip new cartridge into place remember to check that the new seals are all in place (and don't drop out as you push back) Tighten screws be careful not to over tighten Refit knobs. Turn on water and test. (Occasionally you will have to reset the cartridge temperature, instructions with cartridge) Easy peasy!!!! Cartridge Mira 903.33 This cartridge supersedes the previous high and low pressure versions Link to cartridge http://www.showerdoc.com/shower-spares/mira/MIRA-903-33-Cartridge-Assembly-(Up-To-2003---Black)-Comes-with-seals Answered 255 days ago | The Doc

Q: Hi
I have a pre 1996 Mira Excel. We had it in the house we moved to and we have been there four years now. I have to be honest and say it has had some niggles with flow rates sometimes being slower than others and also the on of knob being stiff. However, it has now died. On off know turns, but no water. I have taken the front cover off and the teeth all look fine, but evening turning the cartrige manually gives no water. I can see that the mechanism moves in and out OK I am sure I was told we had a downstairs pump as we have an unvented system, but is there a way to identify if the pump or the Excel has a fault, as I don't want to buy one to find it's not at fault. Could there be a blockage

A: Hi If you have problems with an Excel then it's best just to replace the cartridge, however it is probably worth stripping the cartridge out and checking that the inlet filters are clean, before buying a new cartridge. Turn off hot and cold water supply Pull front temperature knob off The rest of the knob assy. just unclips Remove 4 screws that hold cartridge into body Pull old cartridge forward shouldn't be too tight Set new cartridge for High/Low pressure (instructions with cartridge) Slip new cartridge into place remember to check that the new seals are all in place (and don't drop out as you push back) Tighten screws be careful not to over tighten Refit knobs. Q: I need the foam seals that fit round the white concealing plate no.410.53. i will have to buy the whole concealing plate to get these but on your price list the white version is £43.40 and the chrome version 410.54 is £19.64. Is this the correct price as every other chrome item on the page is alot more expensive than the white plastic version apart from these items where the reverse is true. Many thanks
