A: Probably a faulty Pilot valve The pilot valve is a common fault Turn off water and power Put something in the waste just encase you drop a screw! Remove cover Remove splash plate at pipe entry Remove 4 screws from 'U' clamps and 'U' clamps Later models have “Torx” screws so you will need a “Torx” screwdriver with a T10 Bit. Remove screw above letter 'A' on drawing Ease pilot valve forward (if there is no movement on the pipe work you will have to disconnect it at the inlet connection take care to hold the brass body with pliers when slackening the nut) Swap the wires over from one pilot valve to the other one by one Then reassemble Turn on water and allow the water to come thru unit before switching on power. Q: This shower has given us super service for many years. Just lately it has stated to drip from the shower head, even with the Shower and Power turned off. Is there a washer to change as in a dripping tap?

Q: There is no neon light on the on / off switch on the circuit to the mira sport post 1992 ( actually 1995) shower. Unsurprisingly the shower does not work. Guess there must be a fuse blown or (?) the switch itself has stopped working? I'm not much of an electrician - any ideas?
Thanks for your help

A: This may be a faulty isolation switch so suggest you call in an electrician to check this out. If the switch is ok and the fuse has tripped then get him to check the resistence of the heating elements in the shower , they should read between 9 and 18 ohms if not a new heating tank is required. Q: Hope you can help.
No hot water at all from MIRA sport 8.5 shower, constant cold.
Power light at shower pull switch and shower unit. Shower pull switch recently fitted approx 6 months ago. 240 v measured at shower terminal block. When rotary temp switch is moved from cool position to low temp position, no power light at pull switch or shower.
Once rotary switch moved to cool or stop position, power light on at pull switch and shower.
Found led blown on MIRA neon assy pcb 8.5 588.15, part no longer available. Replaced and fitted MIRA wire 81 neon assy 588.32, still the same symptoms.
Have checked thermal switch assy, continuity ok.
Have checked thermal elements in heating tank, front elements measure 24 ohms, rear elements have metal plate across them, shorting together, so cannot check.
Any help with this would be appreciated please.

A: Sounds like one of the terminals in the new pullcord switch has not been fully tightened and this may be causing the problem. I suggest that you check that first and make sure that the terminals are tight, if there is any sign of overheating in the switch then you will need to replace the switch. It may not be the fault however you need to check this first. Answered 253 days ago | Anonymous

Q: The shower is not heating the water properly - it does warm if you turn the temperature right up, but only heats to luke warm and the water pressure is really poor if you do this. Can you advise please?

A: It may be a faulty element in the heating tank (there are two, three in 10kw showers) you can check them with a multi meter you should have a reading of around 12>18 ohms. If you have power to the elements and no heat it's probably the elements, no power to the elements then it's probably a micro switch. If you don’t have a multimeter we sell them at £10 each with a guide on how to use them for checking and testing the various parts of your shower. Apart from helping to fix your shower, they are really useful for checking you have a power supply to appliances, for checking fuses, letting you know much power you have left in batteries (so you know if they are dud or not) and lots of other jobs, in short they are well worth the £10.

Q: I have a Mira Sport 1995, however I am now looking to replace this shower as it is getting old and lacking power.
The water intlet valve is in the top left hand corner, is there any other shower from the Mira range or another company which is compatible with this dated electric shower?
Thanks

A: Nasty one this have come across it quite a few times as a service engineer. Easiest way I found was to use a very sharp metal drill bit approx same dia as head of screw and gently drill untilhead comes off, you should then be able to remove the bracket and hopefully ther will be enough of the shank sticking out to enable you to get a grip with suitablle pliers or wrench and remove it. Q: There is no power to the shower but it is pooring cold water.
Can the feed be switched off within the shower rather than having to turn off the mains water supply?

A: The pilot valve which switches the water on and off inside the shower has failed and needs replaced, it can be ordered online by clicking on this link. http://www.showerdoc.com/shower-spares/mira/MIRA-419-87-Pilot-ValveThere is usually an isolation valve somewhere in the feed to the shower which allows the shower to be isolated without turning off the mains. Q: Hi There
I have a Mira Sport 7.5, with serial number:-
03DX1195
Initially the shower started to turn cold, but turning the temp control slowly to max then to min, seemed to reset this, then eventually this did not help and the water temp stayed cold. Now the flow is down to only a trickle of cold water.
Can you please advise which part you think I may need to replace?

Q: We were awoke in the early hours recently by our shower boiling loudly. The electrical supply was on, the shower was not in use and no water was flowing. We turned the electrical supply off and ran cold water through the shower until it calmed down. The shower then worked though the water is only heated to half the previous amount. The cold water taps in the bathroom spat and popped briefly when turned on.
Was the boiling due a shower malfunction or by a brief loss of pressure of the mains water supply or both? A look inside the case shows no obvious cause or damage.
Can the shower be repaired? Or should we replace the shower in view of its length of service.
What would be the best replacement to replicate the water and electrical connections.
Sincerely
Eric L Staley

A: The boiling was caused by a fault in the pilot valve allowing power through to a heating element and a new pilot valve is required, it can be ordered online by clicking on this link but check out the heating tank as below before ordering as it may also have a fault which might make repair uneconomical compared with a new shower. http://www.showerdoc.com/shower-spares/mira/MIRA-419-87-Pilot-ValveWith regard to the loss of heating power It may be a faulty element in the heating tank (there are two, three in 10kw showers) you can check them with a multi meter you should have a reading of around 12>18 ohms.
If you don’t have a multimeter we sell them at £10 each with a guide on how to use them for checking and testing the various parts of your shower. If the elements are ok then the fault will also be cured by the new pilot valve
If a new heating tank is required it can be ordered by clicking on this link.

Q: A friend of mine was recently scalded by an old Mira Sport circa 1992-1996.
Is this likely to be a faulty thermal switch or possibly flow regulator or pilot valve? Any suggestions welcome.

A: First of all check that hose is not kinked or internally collapsed and that sprayhead is clean and there has been no reduction in mains water supply to property. If all of these ok then it is the pilot valve, which can be ordered online by clicking on the link below. http://www.showerdoc.com/shower-spares/mira/MIRA-419-87-Pilot-Valve Answered 692 days ago | Alastair
