Q: Hi, I have replace the cartridge in my shower. However when the cartridge is fully screwed in the shower leaks. If I undo the screws and pull the cartridge out about 1/2 cm, no leaks and it works fine.
I can see no wear on the casing but if I fit the cartridge in properly it leaks. I wonder if I'm missing something ?

A: Sounds as if you have a washer missing or the cartridge is in upside down. Answered Today | Barrie

Q: I have a Mira 415 (don't know whether it is post 93 or not) and it has suddenly stopped delivering water. It does turn off but with the tap at any on position it dribbles cold water (could be unheated water from the boiler or a mixture). I am not sure which part would be faulty but will open it up to see if there is any obvious damage / wear.

Q: We have a 10 year old Mira 415 fed from a pump. Every morning we have to bleed air out of the input hot water supply. I can find no evidence of leaks in the system. Have you any ideas of the cause and the cure?

A: Check where the hot supply is sourced , it should be fed from an Essex or Surrey flange. If teed into the expansion/feed pipe above the hot water cylinder it can either draw air in or if the thermostat on the tanki is too high causing aereation in the clynder this can cause this problem. A: It is unusual for the valve to leak the most likely place for a leak is the cartridge which would need replaced, however I think you are going to have to remove the covers and do a little more investigating to trace the leak. Answered 284 days ago | The Dpc

A: This sounds like you have unequal pressures High pressure hot (of a combi) and low pressure cold of a tank? The valve is designed to deal with roughly equal pressures, a new cartridge may solve the problem but it cannot be guaranteed. Answered 394 days ago | The Doc

Q: i am sending you some pictures of my shower it is a mira 415.from what i can gather this shower is quite old but as i can not afford to buy a new one,i was hoping that it could be fixed.i was wanting some information 1- i think the seal as gone because it is leaking from behind and only does this once the shower is on 2- if there is any parts still able to buy,i.e seal-and price
hope you can help if you take a look at the pics you will have some idea of where the leak is coming from, also i did take the front cover off but could not get the black surround off,i did undo the 4 screw's but still did not come off. if you have any information on how this comes off i would be grateful.

Q: I have this mira 415 shower and its not dripping when you turn it off but you have to 'fiddle it' a bit to turn it off, its not stiff but you almost have to turn it off fully then ease it back on a bit before it will stop flowing/dripping. In the mira book I have when I bought it its suggests might be the o ring or the cartridge. can you advise whether to buy the cartridge, service pack of o rings or both
thanks

Q: The output water temperature from our Mira 415 oscillates, although the incoming temp from the combination boiler appears stable (temp output at taps is stable). Would the thermostatic 'element' of the unit be cusing this? If so which replacement part do I need to order? Thanks Paul

A: Hi Paul The 415 doesn’t have thermostat, the things that can alter the temperature is fluctuating pressure or fluctuating temperature of the water coming from the boiler. Regarding the pressure make sure that no one is flushing the toilet or a washing machine is coming on when using the shower. Regarding the temperature fluctuation it could be a faulty cartridge however to check this, see if you can get hold of the hot supply pipe before it enters the shower or perhaps as it leaves the boiler. If when holding this pipe the temperature fluctuates then the problem is not with the shower but more likely with the boiler as the shower can only deliver what the boiler sends to it. Q: Previously we had a mira 88 mixed cartridge but when we had new condenser boiler we had to have different catridge, we have been informed that it is problably a mira 415 wall mounted. We received the new cartridge from you after your helpful sales staff adviced us of the new type required because of the pressure from the new condenser boiler. As this was over 15 years ago we doubt very much if you still have our details. If by a miracle you still have our details we would appreciate confirmation of the cartridge sent and also the price of renewing the said item as the shower head is now dripping. We have always been thrilled with the performance of the shower and reluctant to have a new one as we are pensioners and the price we have been quoted is expensive. Thanking you in advance.
