Fitting LP valve

Q:
Further to previous question about fitting a new LP valve into the existing brass housing, I have carefully slid the new valve into place and the seals are definitely in place but the unit is leaking. The new LP valve is approximately 0.5 mm less in diameter all round. Could this be the reason why it is leaking? and if so how do I remedy this?

The 0.5mm dimension is well within tolerance and will not cause the leak, this will be caused by the seals not fitting properly and the solution is to remove cartridge and check then refit.

When fitting a new cartridge into the existing brass housing, is it just a matter of removing the 2 holding screws of the old cartridge and gently pulling the complete cartridge out of the existing brass housing. Then, can the new cartridge just be pushed into the old brass housing? I am concerned that maybe the o rings that seal the hot and cold suplly pipes may be damaged. Would it be better to remove the six screws in the cartridge and to leave part of the old cartridge in the brass housing and to fit only the main part of the new cartridge?

Definitely replace the whole new cartridge, sometimes it can be difficult to remove the old one and it has to be broken out in pieces but it must be completely removed.
When fitting the new one it is a good idea to a thin line of superglue to hold the seals in place in the cartridge and apply silicon grease to the seals then ease the cartridge in, if any real resistance is felt pull it back out, check for any obstruction or movement of the seals and try again.
