Q: Hi,
We too have the problem that this shower drips, accompanied by the flow control sometimes (but not always) being hard to turn. (It's about 5 years old.) We had a plumber take it apart and grease it, after which it worked fine for a while, then it started working a bit less smoothly.
We now had a bathroom renovation; the shower was removed and put back in, after which it worked great for about a week and has now started dripping.
I can see that replacement candidates are slide valve and thermostatic cartridge, both expensive.
Why would they need replacing, as they look like solid pieces? I'd rather not spend that money only for the problem to reoccur.
In general, is this problem related to this being a concealed shower, i.e. is it less likely to occur for showers that have the mixer battery external of the wall?
Thanks

Q: I have the above shower which is now constantly dripping. How do I know if I need to change the slide valve or the thermostatic cartridge (this is what Triton advised).

Q: How do I remove the 2 control knobs on a Triton Thames thermostatic built in mixer shower? I have unscrewed the control levers and removed the grub screws but the knobs still feel attached somewhere.
Many thanks

Q: As I have suffered the same problems as the others with the Triton shower valve, are there any instructions available on how to strip down/remove the slide valve, upper flange & thermostatic cartridge on the shower valve. I want to remove clean and regrease the parts without damaging them. Many Thanks

A: Sorry to take so long to reply, unfortunately we don’t have any instructions regarding the servicing of the valve I contacted triton to see if they had anything but they don’t appear to have any instructions. As with all showers when dissembling the secret is to tale photos at every point noting the position and orientation of the part, this can then be referred to when you are reassembling or fitting new parts Answered 191 days ago | The doc

Q: Hi, the water flow dial is very difficult to turn and sticks badly. I can only get it to move by turning it a fraction then stopping then turning again until water comes through. I turned off the water to try and dismantle it and when there is no water pressure in the system the dial turns freely. Once the water pressure returns the dial sticks again. Any ideas as to why this is happening. I am hoping the whole unit does not need replacing as it's only 2 years old and has been tiled in. Thanks.

A: Would try stripping down cleaning and lubricating with silicon grease at the same time checking for any damage. It could also be toohigh water pressure. Answered 237 days ago | Alastair

Q: Over the last year or so, the slide valve on our built-in Triton Thames Concentric was getting increasingly harder to close off ie needing more and more force to close it. About three months ago we couldn't get it fully closed. Having reviewed the diagram on your website, we ordered both a new slide valve and, as a failsafe, we also ordered a new thermo cartridge from yourselves in case the problem lay there. You then dispatched them over the Forth to Fife in good time.
Rather than attempt the job myself (which I should have done) we got a plumber in to do it. I wasn't at home when he did it and my wife tells me he was unsure of this particular model of shower and seemed to struggle to fit the new slide valve. To my dismay, he also replaced the thermo cartridge which I was not convinced was necessary but stupidly I didn't make this clear to him. With £200 of new parts in it I consoled myself that we at least had a completely new shower!
Over the last few months, the shower has operated OK but I have never been convinced by the operation of the slide valve - it has always felt a bit "spongy" to me. The inevitable has now happened and the shower has started to drip with the slide valve "closed". WARGH!!
I am about to dismantle it myself but would dearly like not to spend another £100 on a part, even though it would be keeping a local business going! Is it possible that the slide valve was never fitted correctly in the first place? Could it be one of the ring seals was never positioned correctly and is now leaking? Any advice other than buy another slide valve?
Thanks in anticipation.

A: Regarding the temperature fluctuation it could be a faulty cartridge however to check this, see if you can get hold of the hot supply pipe before it enters the shower or perhaps as it leaves the boiler. If when holding this pipe the temperature fluctuates then the problem is not with the shower but more likely with the boiler as the shower can only deliver what the boiler sends to it. If it is not a boiler problem then phone Triton and they will send an engineer Answered 582 days ago | The Doc
