T300si 8.5 wired remote

I replaced the transformer after identifying no output. Shower worked fine. Noted it was noisy clicking in the power pack but put this down to the cover being off. After a dozen uses, it stopped working (dead). I have removed the new transformer and it seems to have a failed primary (mains) winding which is open circuit. Secondary seems normal at 4 ohms. Should I be looking for another faulty component, or is this just an infantile failure of a replacement part?

Unusual to have a problem with these transformers, however if it came from us we can replace it.

Have you checked the solenoid valve?

It may be your solenoid valve, you can check it if you have a multi meter, you should have a reading of at least k3.5 ohms, across the two terminals any less and you need a new valve. (Check the valve in the failed state.) (When it has stopped working!)
If there is power getting to the solenoid and it is not operating then there is a good chance that you have a faulty solenoid.

George, thanks.

Solenoid is open circuit.

I will order both parts and send the faulty transformer back.

You may yet again have a faulty transformer, but it may also be a faulty power PCB, which is more common.

Hi Barrie

Thanks for your response. I have held fire on placing the order given your comment on the power board.

Just to recap:

Transformer has failed on the primary, secondary seems OK.

Solenoid is open circuit. No mains power to it, even when mains is on, but there are no lights etc on the panel. Mains power is at the terminal block.

What checks should I make before replacing anything? If the PCB is faulty, then a new remote pack would probably be the most sensible option given the pricing.

Thanks for your help.

It looks like you are looking at a new transformer also with the solenoid you should have a reading of at least k3.5 ohms, across the two terminals any less and you need a new valve. (Check the valve in the failed state.) (When it has stopped working!)

If there is power getting to the solenoid and it is not operating then there is a good chance that you have a faulty solenoid.

But it looks like you have been told this already.

With a new power pack you know it all works and you will have a warranty.
