Cartridge fail rate

I've had a Triton Dart shower for 5 years. It came with a five year guarantee and I believe that in that time the cartridge has been replaced four times. They last a bit over a year before becoming stiff to operate and leaking from the centre when off. Is this normal? I'm replacing it one more time but if it goes again I'll be looking to replace the whole unit. Any idea if other brands have a better cartridge life? Gravity fed shower with a head of 2.5 metres.

Unusual the Dart Cartridge is normally fairly robust and by the sound of it you aren’t on high pressure, have you thought of dropping Triton an email? I presume that they have been replacing the cartridges under guarantee?

I can’t remember but I think the Dart has 150mm pipe centres which means you will have an huge selection of showers to choose from if you decide to replace it and which one to choose will depend on how the Dart is installed.
