A: Is this 9.5kw? No This is a power shower and uses the hot water that isstored in the hot water tank. Electric: These showers heat their own waterand are usually connected directly to the mains water and electricity supply. They can range from 7.5kw - 10.8kw.
Mixer: These showers blend hot and coldwater. There are two main types of mixer showers, manual valves and thermostaticallycontrolled mixing valves.
Power: These showers have a blending valve,(manual or thermostatic) and a small pump housed in the same case. Answered 59 days ago | The Doc

Q: Recently my AS2000XT shower started to struggle on hot water and now there is no hot water all together with the motor ramping up like mad. Cold water is normal. Checked the filters which appear very clean. Hot water take-off is on the horizontal pipe before the vent tee and runs to the loft before coming down to the shower, but the pip runs are all well below the water tank level. what could be the problem?

A: We are having a problem at the moment with our ticketing systemit is running words together, we have people working on it!! First by holding the pipe that goes to the shower can you makesure they there is hot water going to then shower. The other possibility is you may have an air lick in the hotsupply, try the following to clear it. Remove the shower head and lay the hose in the bottom of the shower tray or bath then turn the showeron to fully hot and allow to run for 5mins this may draw any air in the systemthrough. Q: Hello, I just checked inside my NewTeam Thermostatic 1000XT and found black residue which I concluded from info from this site is to do with the pump malfunctioning. As the whole pump unit must be replaced it seems worthwhile to replace the unit, especially as the current one has had a good 10 years of life. Is this an appropriate replacement and is it one that you would recommend? Also, perhaps a stupid further question....are there any models that are quieter, or is the noise inevitable in an external unit of this type. many thanks for your time. M

|
Submitted 202 days ago | by

A: This is a pumped shower and doesn’t heat the water so the only draw on the power is the motor about 3 or 4 hundred watts, if you need to be more accurate regarding the draw on the power let me know and I will check. Answered 201 days ago | The Doc

Q: The output from this shower has deteriorated badly, so that the flow rate now varies from 3litres/min to 4.5 litres/min over the full range of the flow control. In addition the unit now makes a noise somewhat between a gurgling waste pipe and heavy rain on a plastic roof.
I have cleaned the filters without any benefit.
The reduced flow rate could be due to a failing potentiometer but that would not explain the strange noise.
Could it be the pump itself rather than the motor?
Is my best answer just to replace the whole unit?

Submitted 333 days ago | by

A: If there is hot water getting to the unit then I am more inclined to think that the filters may be blocked, there is just the possibility that it could be the thermostatic valve that is faulty, but these are normally pretty reliable. If the motor is running then it almost certainly isn’t it. Answered 332 days ago | The Doc

Q: Hello
From the look of the other questions, you seem to be very helpful guys. I am looking to replace my existing thermostatic shower (run from separate hot and cold supplies) and just wanted to check that I did not need a thick electrical cable from my junction box. My existing shower is run off the ring main via an external (outside the bathroom) switch. Also, is this unit quiet?

A: Yes a small cable will be OK for this, if it was correctly installed before then it will be OK now. Is this unit Quiet? I don’t know what you had before so i don’t know what you are comparing it with. However all of these units make some noise, most of the pumped showers use the same motor bur with different configurations and pumps, therefore the noise is similar from them all. Q: The above unit in our house has failed. The motor seems to be working (or least is trying to to) as it "revs" to try to get water through. However the water first rises and falls in time with the revs before slowing to a trickle (revving still going on in the background).
I opened the casing and found a considerable amount of "soot" inside. The unit is over 10 years old and so has done well - I'm thinking it might be time to get a new unit?
I note that the AS2000XT is the recommended replacement with the same footprint and the internal layout looks to be exactly the same as that for the AS2000T, however the smaller, flow dial seems to be in a different place - does this matter or is it simply attached differently inside?
Many thanks
