The Shower Doctor

George Thomson established "The Shower Doctor" in 1993 to focus on shower repair in the Edinburgh area.

George is a second generation plumber; he and his father ran a successful plumbing and heating business which after 40 years trading was sold in the late 1980's.

In 1993 George realised that many perfectly good showers were being consigned to the scrap heap, often because the average plumber or electrician had no in-depth knowledge of how they worked or more often they had difficulty in locating and obtaining spare parts. George started The Shower Doctor to remedy this.

Over the subsequent years the repair business expanded and so did the stock holding of shower spare parts. After launching a website in 1999 more and more contractors discovered that most of the parts that usually go faulty in a shower could be bought off the shelf, and the more obscure shower parts could normally be sourced within a few days. As the over the counter and internet sales grew, the business expanded considerably and now has a team of employees dedicated to spare part sales, customer support and local shower repair.  In 2021 the business moved into a custom designed 8000sq ft warehouse in the West of Edinburgh.
