Reduced water flow rate

Shower was working fine until a couple of weeks ago. Then cut out for approx 5 seconds (no flow) and ever since it's only run with reduced flow. And sometimes the shower won't turn off. Through experimentation I did find that if I wedge something 1mm or so wide in between the top of the on/off knob and temperature lever (when shower is on) the flow would return to full power. From other questions it sounds like either cartridge or loom (or both) might be the problem. Is there any way to diagnose further? Or is it worth replacing both anyway? I've seen that Aqualisa offer a repair service for out of warranty products but price seems a bit steep and from the YouTube channel it looks like the cartridge replacement shouldn't be difficult.

Do you have any visible leaks coming from the shower unit or inside the shower ?

If you tap the shower when it cuts out does the unit fire up again? This could mean that the brushes in the motor are worn and not contacting the armature properly causing it to cut out?

If you are in Edinburgh we offer a repair service.

Hi,

No visible leaks anywhere. And no, the shower doesn't start-up again if you tap it. Unfortunately we live in Surrey so repair service isn't an option.

Cheers
Ian

I would think that changing the loom will do the trick.
