Leak between body and cartridge

I have a leak between the body and cartridge of an Aqualisa 605 Thermostatic & 406 manual shower mixing valve. Would it be best to first try replacing the gasket or is it more likely to need a new cartridge?

Check the cartridge is tight in the body and if so check the seal for damage, if the seal is fine you may need a new cartridge.
