609 shower valve small leak.

Hi, I am re doing my bathroom and have got the outlet to the shower head currently capped off. If I turn the 609 valve on I can hear what sounds like air being expelled by the valve and after about 30 mins notice a small amount of water appearing, this stops while the valve is off, is there a fault or should this not be turned on with the outlet capped off? Thankyou

You may have a leaking "O" ring that is causing this , but until the shower is used you may not know if this is the case.

Hi, thankyou, I am able to turn the shower on as its still connected but the outlet is capped whilst I do the bathroom, it's leaks from behind the grey ring but only whilst in The on position

It is a common fault on these cartridges that the front bezel comes away and can cause leaking. A new cartridge may be needed in the future as the leak can become worse.
