Stiff on off knob

Hi I've got a customer with one of these showers and they say the on off knob is stiff to turn and is even more so when you are the second person in the shower I have not seen it yet as they are 50 miles away from me so just trying to find possible causes first

Depending on the system that it is on it may have the wrong type of cartridge or the cartridge maybe faulty.
