Flow regulator

HI I have had a vailant eco tec 831 combi boiler fitted a while back but the grey cartridge started to leak. I have changed it for the pink and inserted the olive flow regulator but the water pressure from the shower has dropped slightly. When I removed the grey one I noticed that it did not have a flow regulator fitted. Would it make any difference to the pressure if I was to remove the flow regulator or is this not advisable. What is the purpose of the different flow regulators? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best Regards Dave

The cartridge comes with instructions and these included when the flow regulators need to be used.
