This question is regarding Aqualisa Grey Gravity/Pumped Thermostatic Cartridge with Gasket - 022801

My shower wont switch off. I know the cartridge needs to be replaced. I phoned the manufacturer and they gave me the part no. They said to me you probably have a green ring on the current one (which I do) but they said the new one will be grey. Whats the difference, should I replace like for like?

The Grey ring replaced the green ring a number of years ago.
