Dripping shower head

Hi, I have just taken the cartridge from my dripping Aquastream, it's in good condition, but the small plastic white ring behind the rubber 'O' ring is split. Is this normal or damaged.

The split in the plastic ring is as it should be.
The only way to stop the drip is to fit a new cartridge which can be ordered online by clickinig on the link below.
