Gainsbrough Ambassador Cartridge replacement - turn off water supply?

This is probably a pretty stupid question, I expect that I need to turn off the water supplies to this shower before replacing the cartridge? There doesn't seem any easy way to do this, unlike on my sinks and toilets that all have an exposed screwdriver valve. So either they are hidden away and I need to pull something apart to get to them or I need to turn off the hot and cold from the system as a whole.

Yes you will need to turn the water off.

If there is no obvious valves then yes you will have to turn both the entire hot and cold water off.
