aquavalve 609 fron cover

I have an Aquavalve 609 Thermo concealed valve which needs a new cartridge as the action is impossibly stiff for my wife to turn on. How do I get the front cover off? Is there a screw holding it on? I thought it should just pull off but it is very reluctant and feels like there is a central screw I can't get to.

Also is there a lubricant I can use to keep the action smooth once the new cartridge is fitted?

If it is the concealing plate you mean then it is supposed just to be held on by the friction of the ring in the middle, however may are stuck back with silicone, for this you will need a knife with a long sharp blade to cut away the silicone behind the plate.

If you mean the front knob then it depends which knob you have one has a screw and the other doesn’t

With screw

Without.

If you look at the rest of the images here you should be able to work out how it all goes together.

The control knob should just pull off as its held on with a seal on the spindle of the cartridge assembly.

Unfortunately the cartridges are sealed units and once they fail the need replaced and you have no way of keeping them lubricated inside unfortunately.

You can find the spares diagram here in this link provided where you will find the cartridge you require - www.showerdoc.com/aqualisa-aquavalve-609-thermostatic-and-409-manual-shower-spares
