Armitage Shanks Hathaway (manufacturer part no. S7655) bath/shower mixer

Hi there i have a Armitage Shanks Hathaway (manufacturer part no. S7655) bath/shower mixer, when the shower lever is turned water still comes out of the bath spout and less come out of the shower head. I have looked at some forums and have read that its most likely to be a diverter or cartridge problem but i have no idea what either look like and was hoping if guide me on what to do.I have no plumbing skills and was wandering if i could do this myself without replacing the whole thing. I would greatly appreciate if you could help!!!

You must have a diverter on your system which takes the water from the shower to either the bath or shower head, the shower itself is just a water mixer.
