There are plenty of plumbers out there who will tell you that no matter how long they have been doing their job for, they never stop learning.
That certainly appears to be the case as far as the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) is concerned, as the organisation has recently launched a new online resource to help with the training of tradesmen and women who wish to add to their skillset.
According to the body, its members are being encouraged to develop themselves by keeping up to date with new technology and how the industry is changing, with the e-learning site just one way to broaden their horizons.
CIPHE operations manager Danny Davis said: "This is a brilliant opportunity for our members to update their knowledge. Each module displays the time it takes to complete, so it’s easy to fit in with the time they have available."
Members can access more than 200 modules from the web page, with the majority being free of charge.
In addition to advice on carrying out specific work, leading manufacturers including Bristam and Coram have contributed their own modules, enabling professionals to read up on their latest products and how they are different from other items on the market.
Other areas that are covered include renewable technologies and how-to guides, while individuals can also learn about spreadsheets, presentations and word processing, which could prove to be particularly useful if they want support in running their own business.
CIPHE is made up of approximately 8,000 members, which includes 200 distributors and manufacturers. The majority are based in the UK, although some are from as far afield as Hong Kong.
As well as bathroom plumbing training, the e-learning site offers information on a broad range of other subjects, including insulation, heating and compliance.
