Grohe recognised as sustainable manufacturer

Faucet and bathroom accessory manufacturer Grohe has been honoured for its efforts towards sustainability in Germany.

The organisation is one of three firms that have been recognised with the 2014 German Sustainability 'Resource Efficiency' special award, which was presented during a gala in Dusseldorf on November 28th.

Grohe has focused its efforts on creating and supplying consumers with water-efficient technology for years, with one of the finest examples of its accomplishments being the EcoJoy, which the company says can save a family of four up to 63,000 litres of water and 1,300 kilowatt hours of energy every year.

In addition to this, the ethos has been integrated into the design of many of its other products, including showers and thermostats.

Grohe's attention on sustainability isn't just limited to the products it creates - the manufacturer has also introduced measures into its factories to ensure they benefit from high recycling ratios that reduce their impact on the environment.

Management board member Michael Rauterkus said: "Sustainability is embraced by all our employees. Being among the top three winners of the German Sustainability Award will encourage us to continue to think ahead and to drive resource efficiency in our line of industry."

He added that the issue of being environmentally-friendly has been "deep-rooted" in Grohe's processes and culture for many years, and highlighted it wasn't something that his firm - or any other, for that matter - should take for granted.

The award is the latest piece of good news following a positive spell for the company. Last month, Grohe Group revealed its sales had increased by six per cent in the first three quarters of the year compared with the same period in 2013.

At The Shower Doctor, we stock a wide range of Grohe shower spares and parts, along with a large choice of kitchen and bathroom taps.
