Grohe reveals vision for 'bathroom of the future'

Have you ever thought about what your bathroom might look like in 20 years' time?

It's an interesting notion, and one that shower manufacturer Grohe has been taking very seriously - so much so that it's commissioned a study to try to find out more.

After surveying more than 1,000 people, as well as analysing current international trends and developments, it's released its 'Bathrooms In 2034 - The Centre Of New Living Universes' report, highlighting four potential futuristic bathroom styles.

So, what can we expect?

The Zero Emissions Bathroom

Energy efficiency is a big focus at the moment and this trend is expected to continue to grow in the coming years.

Grohe believes this bathroom will be "designed as a power station in its own right", thanks to a heat recuperator and water treatment technology that enables it to use waste water to generate warmth.

The Multi-ID Bathroom

This bathroom will offer added functionality to every member of the family - a wash basin that transforms into a makeup studio, a mirror that doubles up as a television.

As soon as a user enters the area, settings such as lighting and even the scent of the air freshener will be adjusted to match their personal taste.

The Healthness Bathroom

Almost half of Grohe's respondents cited the need for a bathroom that fulfilled their physical health needs, so this bathroom of the future will aim to make monitoring an individual's medical status as easy as possible.

Toilets will be able to analyse a person's urine, toothbrushes will collect saliva samples and even blood readings will be taken without using invasive procedures.

This data can then be used to inform the user of the state of their health, even offering advice when required.

The Selfness Bathroom

Finally, this bathroom will focus on what many of us already associate the bathroom with - 'me time'.

Using aromatherapy, relaxing imagery and spa-like facilities, the modern chillout bathroom will "take users on a journey to another world".

With just 20 years to go until these scenarios hopefully become a reality, we can't wait! In the meantime, check out what showers Grohe has to offer us in the present day.
