No cold water

The cold water wouldn't turn off on my Bristan 1901 shower so I checked the flow valve and it seems ok. Works fine without the cart 5 cartridge in but no cold water with it in. Do I need to replace the complete cartridge or do you think the problem is elsewhere. The shower is less than 4 years old.

I would remove the cartridge then flush out the hot and cold supplies individually there should be roughly the same amount of water coming out of both the hot and cold side of the valve, if the flow is roughly the same from both sides then you probably need a new cartridge.
