Hot water

I have a thermostatic bar shower and the water is getting scolding hotwill it be the cartridge or is it likely the cold is scaled up

There will be filters in the inlets first thing to do is check that they are clear, there may also be check valves if there are make sure that one of them is not sticking.

After that it is the cartridge I am presuming that you have roughly equal press ures on the hot and cold?

If for example you have the hot of a combi and the cold from a tank in the attic this could cause the same problem.

I mention this because most cartridges fail cold, however a cartridge failing hot is not unheard of!
