Hardwater limescale area: will replacing the 06734B cartridge in my Bristan shower stop flush-scald?

Hi,

I have a Bristan shower that hasn't had it's thermostatic cartridge cleaned for 9 years - and when a loo is flushed - shower users get a bit of scalding before it slllloooowwwwllly reacts.

I'm in a hardwater area - and am wondering if limescale build-up will be slowing valve reaction time - and if replacing it (for speed - so I don't have to await a descaler to work during the fix operation) will make the shower faster reacting to pressure changes? Or should I be going some other route?

Thanks for any advice - Nick.

p.s. Good advice on the website already...I almost made the plastic-cartridge replacement error until I saw your guidance elsewhere that it would not work.

The new cartridge should solve the slow reaction time problem, I am just hoping that there is nothing else causing a problem because flushing the toilet shouldn’t cause the shower to change temperature so violently that you get to the stage of someone getting scalded.

However a new cartridge may also solve this problem.
