Capri bath mixer taps with shower head

I have just had Bristan bathroom mixer taps fitted I didn’t check them till after they were fitted. When I pull up the diverted from bath to shower I have to keep my hand on the diverter for water to come through the short head when I let gout runs through the bath tap Is there a way of keeping the shower on ? With out having to constanyholding the diverter

If this is new then it is a fault with the diverter get the installer to come back or give Bristan a ring or email and they will send out another.
