Replacement of seals

I have purchased a seal replacement kit (SK1500-1) in an attempt to stop my Bristan Cardinal shower from dripping, but am struggling to get the cartridge out. Is it just a case of removing the lever and circlip (item 2 in above diagram) and then unscrewing item 3 anti-clockwise? I can't seem to turn it (without the whole body starting to move) but am not sure if it is just seized or if I'm trying to disassemble it incorrectly.

Yu are doing the right thing and it sounds like item 3 has seized.
Two things to try ;
! try applying clockwise force to item 3 , this can break the seizure and ,
2 pour a kettle of boiling water over item 3 , expansion can also break the seizure.
