How to remove Thermostatic element

After taking the handle off there does not seem to any screw securing the Thermostatic body into the shower body, can you advise how to remove. I have had the restrictor valves not letting water through & after removing the angled outlet bends to inspect the valves what appears to be a black part of a washer fell out of the outlet holes. Thanks Roger Ward

Not sure I understand your problem however when you remove the handle inside the knob there is a grub screw that secures the remaining part of the knob on to the cartridge.
