No temperature control after fitting

I've replaced the cartridge and fitted the thermostat and piston but now only have miniscule adjustment between roaring hot and cold.

I replaced the replacement cartridge on the assumption I had a faulty unit, used a new thermostat but the same occurs with this replacement assembly.

What have I done wrong? How do I get a reasonable range of temperature control again? (I followed the video as far as I know)

Can you first check the temperature of the water goimng tom the shower by holding the pipe?

Did you remove the valve from the wall to service it?

Is it on a combi boiler?

The other possible reason for the rapid change in temperature would be that the piston is sticking and as you adjust the valve it all of a sudden jumps, so can you check it is lubricated and moving freely.
