Stuck trying to remove inner cartridge...

Great video, watched-through once and am trying to follow along to service my Gainsborough Antique.

When I come to dismantle the cartridge, the two holes in the rear of the cartridge are blocked such that I cannot pass anything through. I notice in the video that it looks to be the same when the cartridge is removed from the shower, but when it switches to the bench you can see light through the slits.

What am I missing? Should the obstruction simply slide out-of-the-way?

I've tried everything I can think of, but without passing something through I cannot get the leverage to undo the inner cartridge and finish the job!

I think that the washer plate is in the off position whichwill be blocking the holes if you open the valve then this should pull back andallow you to get something through the slots

If this is not the problem then can you send us a couple ofphotos so we can understand the problem.
