Old new team thermostatic shower

I recently ordered a new cartridge for an old new team shower valve, the one I took out is exactly the same exept there is a plastic part on the new one whereas the old one is brass. Should this still work and do I need a new thermostat too?

Depending on the fault you have had , you may need a new thermostat, but you can test this,
