Sirrus Stratus Cartridge Replacement

Hi I replaced the sk1850 cartridge on the above shower as the existing cartridge was pretty green and leaking through the flow control spindle. I cleaned the flow control sealing face inside the valve body with a green nylon impregnated pad and rinsed clean. I had 2 new cartridges as my customer had 2 failing valves. I replaced the 2 internal seals greased them and the cartridge o rings reassembled. (done this quite a few times). I tried the first cartridge and it wouldn't completely shut off the flow however hard it was turned (gravity fed) I tried the second cartridge and this would just shut off the flow if turned extremely tight - the o rings look fine and were in place (possibly oversize and not entering the sealing face)



The original cartridge didn't drip with only light turn off rotation

I have fitted these when fed by combi's without a drip problem



Have you had a bad batch ?- I'll be sending these back



Also found as soon as the cartridge got 55 deg c water through the temp control went very tight and squealed when turned. I stripped it and found the temp o ring and thread had not been lubricated ok after high temp grease applied but still had the drip



Whats happened to the quality control? 3 hrs of pratting about and still not a happy customer, I'll have to go back and repeat the process again with hopefully a better replacement cartridge- I should have been in and out in less than an hour nb. the Plumbers merchant supplied the cartridges in a Bristan pad a bag so they should be genuine



Or have I missed something - your advice would be greatly appreciated

Sorry to hear you have has hassle.

First we only supply original manufactures parts for the few things we don’t, we mention that it is not OME or class them as universal.

Not had any others back yet! the only thing to note is that if the 1800 and 1500 cartridges are adjusted too much to hot they will not shut off properly.

We will of course replace them or refund which ever you prefer when you send them back can you mark them for the attention of George because I would like to have a good close look at them to see if I can see anything obvious.

AH! Just reread your post  Plumbers merchant supplied the cartridges in a Bristan pad a bag so they should be genuine I take it you didn’t buy them from us?
