Will this fix the drips

I have a recurring problem with dripping from my A&J Gummers 1861 Antique Shower (dripping from the shower head). The story so far...

- Installed a new seal kit (just over a year ago): Helped for a while, but drips returned.

- Removed and relocated the on/off lever a so it closed tighter: Helped for a while, but drips returned. Repeated this remedy four or five times over the last year.

- Removed the cartridge and re-greased the seals: Helped for a week or two, but drips returned.

- The off lever is now really tight and stiff to close, but even so, water dribbles continuously.

- Turning the temperature knob seems to affect the flow of dribble when "off". It gets much worse when turned to cold.

Would a new cartridge fix this? Or would a new thermostat fix this? Do I need both?

Thanks.

The thermostat has noting to do with the on / off function of the valve.

If you have replaced the seals and lubed the valve and it is still stiff to operate then that would suggest that the cartridge its self is worn But....... Without being able to see/ feel the valve I can’t be absolutely sure.
