Shower valve question
However can you get a hold of the pipes at the pump when it is doing the hot and cold thing if the pipes at the pump are going hot and cold then it suggests that the fault is not with the shower as the shower can only deliver what is sent to it.

Thanks a lot. I think I should start with replacing the thermostat. Can you supply one for this model?
The thing only runs cold for (say) 10 seconds, quite suddenly, so the pipe feeding the hot intake is still hot.
One small thing, though: when it goes cold, the pump seems to be straining to get a hot supply (bubbling sounds etc) but when I immediately switch the tap to full-hot, the hot runs fine. Hmmmm, puzzling!
Many thanks again!

If after servicing you find out that it needs a thermostat or piston, nothing is really lost because it almost certainly needed a service in any case.
