I am working on both showers and are both intermittent on temperature .I presume I need a new thermostat cartridge but didn't check to see if it was threaded or non threaded or because I know which showers they are does it matter please advise on correct part

If these showers are in the same house and are run off of a combi boiler, then I would be looking here first for the fault. The Meridian only has this type of cartridge,

www.showerdoc.com/shower-spares/bristan/mixer-showers/brist-06734b-bristan-cartridge-(not-threaded)-06734b

where as the Fairfax has either the screwed or the unscrewed, and yes it does matter.
