Bristan Brass Thermostatic Cartridge (not threaded) - CART 06734B

Hello, Do you have a tool for removing the (I think) 30mm retaining nut that holds this cartridge in place? I can't get a normal box spanner onto it because there is almost no clearance around the nut and the chrome housing.

No sorry. This nut has caused a lot of problems because of what you described, and there is no easy answer. Sometimes these will just not come of off the shower, or their removal damages the shower.
