Bristan Cartridge Valve

Hi, I have a 12 year + Bristan Osbourne 1901 which started leaking through the rose when switched off - this happened without much warning - almost overnight. I dismantled taking off a white plastic retaining plate with 2 allen screws and pulled out the cartridge. The seals looked ok so i thought I'd clean the cartridge and reassemble. I turned the stop cock on again and thought I'd cracked it - no leak. But after I turned it on and off once I had no flow at all. I took it to bits again, reassembled & the same again. Turns on ok then off, turn it again and no flow! Can you advise - do I need a new cartridge or have I assembled it wrong?

Obviously without seeing the cartridge I can’t tell if ithas been assembled correctly or not.

If the seals are OK, then after 12years it probably needs anew cartridge in any case.
