Bristan Osborne/Trinity shower

My Bristan shower refuses to produce hot water even with a brand new cartridge and despite the barrel of the shower mixer unit becoming hot. I fear the shower was mounted upside down in the first place. Does it matter which way up the barrel is mounted on the wall?

Yes it does as the controls will be wrong.
The problem maybe a blockage in the elbow.
