controls stiff

plumber has replaced this cartridge three times(getting a bit expensive)and the shower controls are very stiff to turn after a short time.I have watched the fitting of these and have never seen any silicone grease being applied,is this why the controls are stiff.

If this valve is fitted to a high pressure system this canmake it stiff and yes silicone grease should be applied to the seals.
