Switch off position

Hi, I would appreciate any advice. We have a Bristan 1901 exposed dual control shower and have had a few problems over the last couple of years. Our problem at the moment is that it doesn't switch off at the extreme left. Looking at it as a clock face the handle moves from 4 to 8 with the switch off position at 7. If I go past 7 the shower comes back on. Do you think if we change the thermostatic cartridge this will resolve the problem. A few years ago the unit was leaking and we replaced the rings and from then on we couldn't get it to switch off at the right point. We spoke to Bristan, but they couldn't offer any help. Then a couple of days ago we had a burst main in the area and the water board raised the pressure in the system and water burst through the control unit. I'm feeling very uncertain and not sure what to do next. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks, Alan

It may be time for a new cartridge. The link above tells you also how to set it up once fitted.
