Bristan Zinc Thermostatic Control

I have a Bristan Zinc Thermostatic Dual Control Shower. The Thermostatic control often sticks - i.e. fails to respond to being turned. If I take the thermostatic section out and lubricate it with silicon grease, it works for a while (usually weeks) but then sticks again - often on cold. Do I need new washers or should I try an alternative approach ? Is fine wire wool on the brass likely to do harm or good ?

This shower has a sealed cartridge and therefore is not suitable for repair, the cartridge will need replaced, however I think that this cartridge may be obsolete if you can send us a couple of photos of your cartridge we will see if we can match it.
