GP0000250 Vernet wax element
Took out my GP0000250 thermostatic cartridge from our 4yr old shower mixer valve, as our shower no longer gets hot enough. Examination seems to reveal that it is all in working order, clean, no deterioration, and my local plumbing merchants suggest that it may just be the wax cartridge that needs replacing. Vernet are the manufacturers of the wax element, but I can't find a distributor/supplier anywhere. I know you guys are very competitive on price for the whole cartridge, but I'm guessing the wax element on its own would be cheaper still ;-) What would you recommend?
Thanks!
Unfortunately this wax capsule only comes with the cartridge.
It would be extremely unusual for a wax capsule to become faulty after only 4 years.
To check it you need a mug of cold water hold the body of the capsule in the water for 15>20 secs mark on the pin with a felt tip pen where the pin comes out of the body now pop the body into a mug of hot water the pin should come forward about 2>3 mm if it does it is working properly.
I presume that you have checked that the incoming filters are clean also that there is hot water arriving at the shower, don’t assume that because you have hot water at the taps that there is hot water arriving at the shower.
